Wreath Penance - Mindful Writing Challenge

a scraping sound in the night
wind clanging through metal
long-ago gift from a friend
wakes me on stormy nights

though I vow to remove it
the kitty wreath remains
welcoming each new day
oblivious to weather
(and my sleep)

  3. The beautiful key to keeping this possession is "long ago gift from a friend". I have things I simply would never let go of...because they remind me of a friend.

  9. I would guess that the reminder of the friendship outweighs the loss of sleep. Beautiful stone.

  10. How many familiar things over fill our lives because they were given to us by loved ones....thanks for visiting Barb. Yes, broke right wrist - a real pain trying to train the left hand! Hopefully the surgery will make recovery time less than if it was in a cast......

  12. That would definitely stay on my door. The clanging is just a reminder of the friend who gave it.

  13. Interesting how what can bother us at night can be a comfort (reminder of friendship) during the day. Way too difficult to discard.
