Wishing You Many Good Things

I wander through
a river of stones
searching for life's
infinite possibilities

September snow in dry river bed, Burro Trail, Breckenridge, CO

I started this blog in January, 2011, to participate with other writers around the world in creating "small stones" which are brief, focused observations about daily life. In each subsequent January, I've done daily posts of small stones while also posting once a week or more in other months. The title of the blog is its goal - to find and report on One good Thing (and sometimes on more than one).

Recently, I've decided that two blogs are more than I can handle. I intend to make One Good Thing private in about a week's time. I know that some people just stop posting and let their blogs in the public domain, but I've heard stories about theft of content as well as actual piracy of inactive blogs by spammers, so I've decided to close One Good Thing to the public. It will remain for my family to read if they so desire.

I want to thank all who have commented here the past several years. I've enjoyed getting to know you - many of you are writers/photographers who also participated in the small stone challenge.

I believe that good things are infinite and are waiting for us to find them.

Wishing you an abundance of all good things!

I'll continue to post on my blog, Live and Learn.
Perhaps some of you will visit me there.

Thank You for your friendship,
Barb

  4. Two is a lot of blogs and I don't blame you one bit. Both of them are so beautiful... I am sure you will include some of your small stones in your other blog (I think you already do even if they aren't so labeled). It is good of you to to let people know what your plans are. I always feel sad and worried for a while when someone I follow just disappears (of course especially when it is their only blog).

Thank you for sharing all the beauty -- of all kinds, in all places.

and PS: Barb, we are 'home' (the Oregon one) although no one would know it from my blog. I'll probably be posting about Alaska for months and months.

  8. I'm glad that you are continuing Live and Learn! One of the beautiful things about blogging is that no two blogs are alike; in other words, no one can replace "you," "your" photos, and "your" words.

  10. A beautiful picture Barb, it reminds me of an artist's work where she paints animals or people in her paintings. Her name escapes me right now. I will go visit your other blog now. Happy you are keeping one blog open.

  11. Barb, oh thank goodness you shared your thoughts about this One Good Thing. Yes, two blogs can be way too much to handle at times. It can feel like too much. It sounds like a good choice to keep it open as "private" for family members to peruse, should they wish. That way you still have the content and can perhaps sit over here and feel the energy of this goodness, the small stones of gratitude. Namaste, little blog. May you continue to blossom in the hearts of those who've paused here.

  12. It is a pity that I just recently discovered your blog. Firstly, I like the title of this and the aim of this blog. Now I'm just browsing and I've seen many beautiful pictures. I love nature and I enjoy seeing it from different parts of the world. I'll follow your other blog and I hope I still will see your beautiful pictures and good words.

  15. Meeting you through this blogger world has changed my life Barb. I completely understand your decision to reduce the Blog quantity. It takes a lot of time and effort to present a post and really one blog is sufficient. Now with your new camera you can show us your creations and elaborate on editing. We all want to learn, well at least I know I do.!

  20. Hello Barb, and thank you for your comment. I have missed your wonderful photos and tried to visit Live and Learn in the past months, but it seems to be for invited readers only. I hope to be able to continue reading your reflection in one blog or another. :)
