Small Wonder

Alone on the trail at dawn,
I pause to look closely at an aspen leaf glowing on a bed of crystal.
Did it hang on somehow since fall so it could show its final radiance in just the right setting?
There are always small wonders if I take the time to notice.

  22. Perfectly lovely for the glistening snow which must change its colors in the light, the radiant red, the gold, and the shadow. The leaf looks animated. The Aspen leaf and Barb, both were fortunate to be found and to find before the leaf crumbling apart.
