Avoiding the gleaming middle-of-the-road icepack, I stride the edge on a narrow strip of sugar. My boots crunch, each footfall taking a bite of snow. I taste the morning air and smile. The day’s banquet has begun, and I have a place at the table.
small stone - Mindful Writing Challenge
Breckenridge needs snow - at the ski area, the upper mountain trails still have uncovered obstacles and rocks. I've started my 4 mile walk/runs again for exercise. Yesterday, I ventured up the trail behind my house and didn't need anything but my hiking boots to stay on top the snow. Other days, I've been running the dirt road near us, staying to the edge so I won't fall on ice. Temps this week have been milder, just below freezing and today slightly above. It looks like spring, but we really need it to be winter. I'm depending on all of you - start doing the Snow Dance for me immediately.
doing the snow dance now for u in tulipland...pls do the ice-on-canals dance for me I would love to get some outdoor skating rinks again this winter! its been extremelymilder here too...happy rest of the week:-)
ReplyDeleteA snow dance? Sorry. I don't believe I know that one.
ReplyDeleteLove the crunch of the boots on the strip of sugar :)
Doing the dance jig right now. Let me know if snow comes of it.
ReplyDeleteBarb, at 30C plus already, way too hot to dance, the thought of snow is cooling right now.But I will hope you do get lots, good skiing, lovely walks, no skidding on icy patches, Cheers from Jean.
ReplyDeleteWe keep sending you big storms...at least they start out that way here on the coast! Sad that you are having another dry and snow-deprived winter. Not sure I know the full dance, but maybe a couple of steps. :-) And, I agree that you have a place at the table in the banquet of life...always get that from your posts.
ReplyDeletesince we've been blessed with rain here, i'll start the snow dance for you. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll the snow dance for you if you do it for me....we have had no snow over an inch in 300+ days, that ain't right. I saw robins yesterday morning.
ReplyDeleteI will do the snow dance for you Barb. With these mild temps I don't know if it will do any good! You've inspired me to get back on my bike, thanks!! Love Di ♥
ReplyDeleteI'll do the snow dance for you if you will do the nosnow dance for me.
ReplyDeleteThere are 67 days and 9 hours till spring!! So we do have a while to get all that snow!! Mother Nature is just 'playing' with us! Watch that ice Barb while running! Runners are always passing us on our hikes and we wonder why they don't fall!...as we stick to the sides on the crunchy snow/ice!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture -- that seems like a LOT of snow in the picture. Not falling into the ice really has to add a lot of challenge to the morning walk. I don't think I'd be up to that.
ReplyDeleteWe also have unseasonably warm weather - rain today and well above freezing. And our current prime minister puts the oil producers way ahead of the environment.
ReplyDeleteThis is post card worthy! Just beautiful! Hope you are well, I am still here an kicking! Will be better at keeping in touch I promise!
