My husband says, "You can't ski in summer." I roll my eyes and ignore him. Way too cold! |
pale sun in ice-crystal halo
vapors of breath frosting my cheeks
my body clenching like a fist
folded into its own puny warmth
thoughts dwell on flickering fires
fleecy blankets and hot chocolate
mind over matter failing
I shiver and endure

so dreaming about hot chocolate and warm blankets can't relieve that chill, huh? Beautiful writing and I would probably roll my eyes too!!
ReplyDeletei'm cold just thinking about it! :)
ReplyDeleteOh but for a flickering fire. Love this.
ReplyDeleteMy sentiments exactly! I would still take our 105-110 summer days over the 30 degree lows and 50 degree highs of late. I'm a cold wimp for sure :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I do love the blue cold of your winter! It has been a long time and I would probably need to run for the fire and hot drink. But, it brings wonderful memories.
ReplyDeleteI love to read about it - from a distance, lol.
ReplyDeleteBarb! I can totally relate to this one. But it surprises me, I just assume you were impervious to the elements. You seem to always be out in it. I am somehow comforted by this post- xoxox teri- I do wonder though - how cold is too cold?
ReplyDeleteLovely words Barb, super snow, way too cold for me!! Keep warm, and stoke up the fire.Cheers from Jean
ReplyDeleteGreat photo. I feel your chill as well as your dreams of warmth. I love the contrasts. Andrea
ReplyDeleteI'm with Teri -- how cold is too cold?!!!! Stay warm and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you describe it - I can so identify with the cold (-18C here at the moment 0F) A cup of tea for me.
