Inspiration from Others

We either make ourselves happy or miserable. The amount of work is the same. - Carlos Castenada, mystic and author (1925-1998)

Nobody can make you feel inferior without your permission. - Eleanor Roosevelt, diplomat, author, and lecturer (1884-1962)

People travel to wonder at the height of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars; and they pass by themselves without wondering. - Saint Augustine (354-430)

This grand show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere: the dew is never all dried at once: a shower is forever falling, vapor is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal sunset, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls.
- John Muir, naturalist, explorer, and writer (1838-1914)

Each has his past shut in him like the leaves of a book known to him by heart and his friends can only read the title.

- Virginia Woolf, writer (1882-1941)

Simply give others a bit of yourself:
a thoughtful act,
a helpful idea,
a word of appreciation,
a lift over a rough spot,
a sense of understanding,
a timely suggestion.
You take something out of your mind,
garnished in kindness out of your heart,
and put it into the other person's mind and heart.
- Charles H. Burr
