driving out of the foothills early morning, we catch a glimpse of Denver, the sun winking through smog as feathery clouds hang languidly behind hazy skyscrapers - we join commuters jockeying for position as they head to work
small stone - Mindful Writing Challenge
Very little sleep last night - an early-morning emergency call to my dermatologist, and we head down the Interstate to Denver. The burning/itching is maddening. Biopsies of two areas on my hands - face inspected with magnifier. Still no relief in sight. Raw torture. Another day goes by. "Healing takes time" is a repeat lesson I don't want to learn.
oh, i'm so sorry about your face! this is lasting a very long time! i sure hope they diagnosed you correctly! yikes!
ReplyDeleteIt's been days! Surely the doctor can give you some medication or ointment?
ReplyDeleteYour picture is amazing. It looks like a painting.
No relief.UGH!!!!!!! Sorr Barb. Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteBiopsies, wait and see, no cure yet, sorry there is no miracle cure from any one of your blog readers, I do hope you can manage meantime. Baking soda and water paste? were you near any water that ducks had been swimming in? "duck itch" is the result from a flatworm parasite, and can be severe enough to need hospital treatment. It is common here in NZ in the summer, but a wild card suggestion, really very wild!!! Greetings from Jean
ReplyDeleteHmmm - I hope you get some relief soon.
ReplyDeleteOh no - hope you get some relief soon!
ReplyDeleteThat's an amazing shot!
I can certainly understand that this wasn't a lesson that you wanted to re-learn. I hope that you start to see progress very soon. I hate to hear of your discomfort because I know that it must be very bad for you to even mention it.
ReplyDeleteOh Barb I'm so sorry. I do hope and pray the burning and itching heal as quickly as possible.
ReplyDeleteLove Di ♥
I'm so sorry Barb -- I had that darn dermatitis on my chin one year and it damn near drove me into madness.
ReplyDeleteHi Barb. What a way to wake up! Driving in and with the morning 'rush'! Great photo of Denver.
ReplyDeleteA few years back I had a reaction to a 'muscle and joint' cream....I was covered head to toe, my histamines were going berserk! I do know there are homeopathic remedies for rashes and itch....there are no side-effects. A visit to a health-store where these are sold could be an option. The wait is the worst part and leaves one exhausted.
I like your 'mindful writing'......a very contemplative practice.
D%&*n! This is not good. I am so sorry.
ReplyDeleteI am impressed with the modern style of these buildings. I thought that Denver was more conservative.
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
Filip
Watching my dermatologist here in San Francisco look through her maginifier, inspect all the sun damage that I did from all those great Rocky Mountain tans is a horror. She looks stunned, not to mention how I look when I get her diagnoses. Hope that it is all relieved soon and you can get back to looking for the One Good Thing in your mountain aerie. This has been a winter for you!
ReplyDeleteIs this the first time you had had frostbite? Did your husband get it, too? I will be thinking of you as you heal.
ReplyDeleteThe photo is wonderful. I love the color tone and the angle of the shot.
Oh darn...I was hoping you were on your way to recovery, but a sleepless night and an early morning trip, with biopsies doesn't sound like recovery. (damn!!) I remember when we first moved to Chicago, the first winter I got some kind of skin thing on my face, drove me crazy that whole first winter. I know that doesn't make you feel any better, but I only said it because it did end and yours will too. Your image looks like something that should be hanging in a modern art museum. Good thoughts your way.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry you are having such continuous pain and discomfort, Barb. I wish I had a magic remedy to suggest. Hopefully it will heal soon.....
ReplyDeleteOh what a visceral story. Yes, there is nothing "real" in the "comfort" of healing takes time. It's actually very true, but also very cruel. Well, I suppose that is life, and if we are lucky, we emerge something more beautiful and wise on the other side. Imagine what the caterpillar thinks when he is metamorphasizing!! (Is that a word?))
ReplyDeleteBarB!! I was so hoping that you were on the mend. Sending a blessing of comfort. xoxo This image is fantastic. I love the way the buildings frame and hold that most pointy of structures.
ReplyDeleteOh - so sorry to hear that. The photo is amazing - very much like a painting.
