Cabin Fever - Small Stone - 14

a storm with drenching rain
washes the sky for hours

but when the sun begins to set
the smoky haze remains

inside looking out
I'm getting cabin fever

Chiming Bells - Small Stone - 7

deep in the forest
dripping with raindrops
Chiming Bells toll their summer song

Hail - Small Stone - 2

Sometimes, even in summer, storms bring white.
Temperature drops as hail plummets from the sky.
Inside, we light a fire to keep warm.
Outside, Waldo smiles, as usual.

Accept what I can't change - I'm always learning from Waldo.

Small Stone - Rain - 18

since childhood, I've loved rain
pounding out a beat
drenching, quenching
watering wildflowers
showering the forest
discouraging wildfire

Small Stone - Rain - 5

after quenching rain
Nature sighs in green contentment

the gray-green leaves of Chiming Bells along Lehman Creek

Wet in Breckenridge

dripping from trees

shower caps shield blooms

a cadence of cleansing

Mariposa Lily

hearing thunder
watching and waiting
smiling as rain falls
dripping through evergreens
quenching a parched earth

Mariposa Lily after rain

This morning, I checked if the Mariposa Lilies were blooming near West Ice Arena in Breckenridge. The ground was still damp from last night's rain. Wildflowers looked fresh in the filtered light of the forest. I'm still practicing with my magnifier lens. These photos are handheld - I'm finding it difficult to stay still enough when I press the shutter. But, the Lilies were creamy and lovely to behold! These delicate lilies grow for a brief time in early summer. Even though they've been stressed by the unusual dryness, they managed to bloom.
This morning they glistened and glowed in the sunlight.
