Our Grandson, Sam, is 5 months old.
He stayed with us for a day last week.
We made faces and danced and sang.
We fed and burped and diapered.
Smiles were our reward.
barely grown ourselves when twins were born
muddling through exhausting days and nights
longing for a private moment or at least a nap
miraculously we're given this second chance
at baby love

ReplyDeleteThe joy of being a grandparent, as you so beautifully point out...a second chance at baby love. What a generous smile...it made my morning start off just right!
ReplyDeletethat is beautiful...
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful picture. It makes you just want to reach out and hug him. Your words are sweet, too. Wonder how many young'uns starting out know anything about raising children? Guess we have to learn as we go.
ReplyDeleteI love the shot, and what you did with it. Sam is a jolly baby, isn't he?
ReplyDeleteMy friend, Hazel is waiting for her first great grandson to be born. He is due on the 5th.
Ahhhh.. How cute.. Grand-babies are the best aren't they.
ReplyDeleteHugs~
How lovely!
ReplyDeleteGraduating to the status of Grandparenthood is the very best. Lovely photo Barb, enjoy the little ones, so much easier this time.Love, hold have fun, kiss and cuddle, but no broken nights, with no sleep, no organisation to have some time to yourself, and when they stay, work can all be done before and after.A wonderful time in our lives. Greetings from Jean

Love this: "a second chance at baby love." So many times I hear people mention grandparenting as a second chance at parenting, which always sounded like wanting do-overs for mistakes and regrets. But a second chance at baby love? Such a perfect description! Thank you! And thank you for sharing in the GRAND Social.
ReplyDeleteTruly a wonderful 'small stone' - enjoy. Andrea
ReplyDeleteSweet treasures! Happy grandparenting! :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post. I am smiling for you. Baby love for you.
ReplyDeleteLovely post. I think we enjoy our grandchildren so much because we make time to spend with them and we realize how short childhood really is.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet post Barb! Glad you spent such a pleasant time with little Sam! God gives second chance to those who are kind and loving. Have a wonderful week ahead :)
