"A long white wait" . . . I like this mental picture I have. White as far as the eye can see, quiet, crisp, clear . . . I can only imagine, as I've never been in a place where it is like that, but, I think at your altitude and where you are, this is your winter. Am I right??
Great shots. That blue on the first one...I could fall into it and never come back! We have shirtsleeves weather at the moment which seems to have dried all our Autumn colours up, but the ends of each day have a chill about them.
Hi Barb, - your winter photos are as magnificent as the short summer ones, and I look forward to them. Beautiful shadows in your second picture, - glad you are back!
Beautiful weather, as of now it seems... Perfect blue skies and a nip in the air... Its never so cold here in Mumbai... I long for such weather. Have a fabulous week ahead Barb:)
I love that. "long, white wait". I'll remember that and think of it when the time ground is white. your photos are lovely - I especially like the second one of the saplings. beautiful shots Barb. I really love the fox photos in your previous post. it would have been very difficult for me to turn her away with eyes like that; and I agree that it's not wise to feed wild animals. it's not a good practice and I don't like when people do it because as you say, it creates a dependency that isn't good in the long run for the animal. but those eyes! happy day to you Barb.
The Rockies are hard to beat for beautiful fall color and winter snow! Nothing quite like a long winter. Something I look forward to. Very nice photos!
i am sure it is looming close by!
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOO!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL
Seriously, winter is beautiful, but I can wait. We have a couple more months of fall in Virginia - I hope.
Nice photos to prepare me. :)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos.
I already felt it this morning, also in The Netherlands we had our first morning frost on the gras. It will start.

ReplyDeletewow, that is a lot of ice... and so it begins, winter begins to flavor autumn. or maybe that is often the case. lovely to see your world.
ReplyDeleteWe are still quite aways from that, but there is a difference in the sky, and the air.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be so nice to see snow off in the distant mountains most of the year.
The fall colors are just beautiful
ReplyDeleteUgh. Not looking forward to it! :)
ReplyDeleteSo not looking forward to it! But your timber shot is great!
ReplyDeleteThe long white wait...yes, that is a good way to put it.

ReplyDeleteA lovely image in words, matched as always by your pictures.
ReplyDeletesnow already, what will it be like in winter>

ReplyDeleteFor a brief moment I can also enjoy the golden colors. The leaves glow as the sun hits the leaves!
ReplyDeleteHi there - great set of pictures. Some people may think I'm mad - but the long white of winter would be a real blessing on 100 degree days!
ReplyDeleteThis is what I like about these blogs - the windows they give into other places!
