An Instant in Time

A friend gave me this garden flag with colorful blooms and a pale purple butterfly. But, do you see the hummingbird that also seems to be a part of the flag's image? He's actually fluttering to drink nectar from the purple sage in my garden. That was last week - by now he may be thousands of miles from the mountains of Colorado, winging his way to a warmer climate. The scene continually changes. A photo is just an instant frozen in time.

  3. Wow! I was going to say that is all I can say.

Well, I did think of more-
Beautiful! I am looking forward to purple sage.
So glad you caught the little traveler on his journey.

  4. Your beautiful photo may be a frozen instant in time, but will bring pleasure for much longer. I love the way the hummingbird reflects the image of the butterfly. Thankyou for educating me, I didn't realise they travel so far so quickly, do they catch strong winds to assist those tiny wings?

  5. Oh that is just wonderful! (I wonder if he thought the bright flowers on the flag were the real thing for just a moment?) A great moment captured for eternity and we thank you for sharing it.

  7. Fabulous shot - and so true about photographs. Sometimes they become our memories and the many moments not photographed become less well-defined.

  8. Yes, the hummingbird looks like a part of the flag's image like the butterfly. Frozen in time - I like the words. With the help of motionless and soundless image, our memories lurked in our heart come back clearly.

  11. Great photo of the hummingbird superimposed on the flag! No doubt he has moved south by now.
All of our photos, our frozen moments, make up a day, a year, a life. I love looking back at photos... maybe because they're more reliable than memory!

  14. Did you see it in your viewfinder? Or was it a surprise? :)

Lovely. Our hummers are gone for the year, I believe.

  15. Hi Barb, we are set to go to Bishop on Friday hoping not much of the leaves were blown away, rain as expected.

I did Hollywood Cemetery, Descanso Gardens and Great Wall Mural this morning.
