Globeflowers along Lehman Creek |
We took our first hike of the season above 10,000'.
Trails are still wet from snowmelt and streams run high.
Marsh Marigold |
Our winter extended through May, but wildflowers aren't wasting time.

Globeflowers |
Globeflowers and Marsh Marigolds bloom in boggy areas.
The tiny Calypso Orchid (Fairy Slipper) is also blooming.
This fragile beauty manages to germinate as soon as the snow melts.
I celebrate the stamina and persistence of wildflowers:

Hi Barb,
ReplyDeleteThose flowers are very beautiful - I like a lot the texture of the petals!
It must have been a lovely day with marvelous landscapes an views ... the water running in the background of the first photo ... just lovely!
Wow, they are so delicate.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful flowers. It is amazing how flowers have managed to adapt to all kinds of environments. They must be very welcome after a long winter.
ReplyDeleteI am not that crazy about yellow, but that shade is lovely. I can't think of one wildflower here that comes up with snow on the ground. That must be such a sight.
ReplyDeleteHey, do you have more than one color of Indian Paintbrush?
Oh Happy Happy Summer up there! I know I've told you probably a zillion times that I dream about the wildflowers we saw in August somewhere up there where Geoff took us...it makes me happy to know that they come back so quickly, wow, almost as soon as the snow has melted. Beautiful post.
