Thinking about Confidence

somewhere within us

a child's confidence:

willingness to let go

trusting the landing

If I believe I can, I am closer to accomplishing it.
How does this belief in oneself get squelched?

As children start a new school term, may their confidence be nurtured and grow strong.

I give thanks for teachers who find the best in a child,
encouraging self-expression and emotional growth.

  2. Sadly, the pain of failure too often seems greater than the pure joy of success. Those wonderful teachers...and I had several...seem to comfort the pain, but more importantly celebrate the joy. The emphasis on the joy! We can all regain belief in ourselves. Thanks so much for this lovely post.

  3. HI Barb,
What an appropriate post! I love the words, "If I believe I can, I am closer to accomplishing it." Thank you for the reminder to believe, and encourage that belief in accomplishment whatever that happens to be; where ever it is on the spectrum of completion.

  4. Hi Barb, this is an inspiring and informative post. I think we were guilty of overprotection with our oldest niece, we see it now!

Thank you so much for the advise on ginger ale to redeem apetite, i will try fresh ginger. I wonder why I still get cold sweats once-in-a while and it feels very abnormal. I guess it really takes time for the body to heal itself. I eat lots of fresh bananas too hopefully mending my sore tummy.

  8. I'll bet he enjoyed that experience. My oldest daughter Ginny has been rock wall climbing. She really likes it but says it's getting hard on her hands! Of coarse her hands are much older than your grandson's! Love Di ♥

  9. I think you have to be so brave to like climbing a wall. Kudos to whoever has instilled such confidence in him.

  11. How do we get from I think I can to I think I can't? I guess we accept some risks and others become walls (not rock-climbing walls). Sometimes we need a boost to remind ourselves that we can do more.

  12. So brave! When I was a child I was a scaredy-cat. It's only as an adult that confidence has begun to bloom.

  13. Children believe they're immortal. We know we're not, that's the difference.
